Scouring the City for the Greatest Hotel that Ocean City Offers

Ocean City, NJDiscovering a good hotel when you’re travelling in Ocean City isn’t typically simple, since there’s so many options! Okay, you can pick something out of the same Ocean City travel guide which everybody and their friend has used for the past 5 years, but that does not mean you will have a very nice experience (in fact, it’d pretty much ensure a terrible one!). As a substitute, it’s really a great idea to do a touch of homework, with your close friend the Internet. Locals will always be aware of the perfect hotels in their own city, just what the best accommodations are, and the good days to go to their favorite parts of the city. Nevertheless, you don’t need to go up to everyone you happen across in the airport terminal in Ocean City, requesting their tips. So in lieu, we’ve collected a short set of our 3 favourite hotels in Ocean City for you. They are the ones we recommend to our friends when they return to visit – but because we really do not want you to imagine we’re just being biased, listed below are the opinions from Yelp.com:

1. Anchor Inn
1018 Wesley Ave
Ocean City, NJ

I have been going to Ocean City, NJ for 27 summers and the Anchor Inn was my favorite hotel so far. I chose the Anchor Inn for an affordable room and the awesome 10th and Wesley location, which is only a couple of blocks from the beach and my favorite boardwalk stops. 10th and Boardwalk is 2 blocks from Jilly’s Arcade, the Surf Mall, Mac and Mancos, Monkey Bread, miniature golf, an amusement park and more.

We got so much more than a location from the Anchor Inn. Bob and Carol, the owners, went out of their way to make us feel at home. They remembered our names immediately and always wanted to make sure we were comfortable. They also pointed us towards the best sandwich shop I’ve been to in Ocean City, Sack O Subs. There was always a spot in a cozy rocking chair available on the porch. Inside the inn has a nook for playing any of the many board games they have available. They also stock the common area with coffee, ice, pop corn and a microwave available for use. Our room had a mini fridge as well. By the end of the three day trip, I felt as though I had gained new friends in Bob and Carol.

The 10-room Anchor Inn offers a range of rooms, from 1 and 2 bedroom apartments to rooms with one double bed. They have a parking lot in the back and beach tags available, alleviating those Ocean City logistical questions. Even though check-out is at 11 am, Bob and Carol allow guests to keep beach tags until 3 pm. This was just one of many extra touches. I was glad to have the extra beach day!

2. The Flanders Hotel
719 E 11th St
Ocean City, NJ

Gorgeous! I stayed here for two nights and all was just fabulous. The room had an ocean view; a little “kitchen” area; complete with beach tags; continuous hot water in the shower; comfortable bed; and most of all…CLEAN. Very beautiful decor…very charming…very happy I had the opportunity to experience it. Hope you do, too!

We stayed in a condo unit so can’t speak for the smaller hotel-like units, but it was a furnished 2 bedroom apartment basically. Clean, bring your own sheets, food, toiletries, etc. Close to the boardwalk and beach, just separated by a (large) parking lot. One car per unit, so we carpooled best we could. The parking lot nearby has rolling rates ($4-5 during the rate, up to $20 during the weekend). The front desk is pretty receptive ( i don’t know if us staying in the apartment mattered), our fridge was leaking and they came to fix it while we were out. All in all, worth the price, will probably be our “go to” place in OCNJ.

We’re almost positive one of the 3 there will match your preferences! Ocean City is famous for each of these hotels (and more!), considering that tourism is so important to our stunning and dynamic metropolis. If it ends up you’ve stopped at one of these restaurants and you are not happy, send us an email to tell us! Or, in case you have identified a buried gem by yourself, please share it with us and then we can update our web site to support the future visitors!
